Here's something I found kinda interesting...a friend of mine back in Oklahoma sent this to me a few weeks ago. I figured this story is worth sharing with all of you!

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO,
HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF

AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER.

THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio (in Arizona) who created the "tent city jail":

He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but "G" movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required! cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel.

When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.

He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value.

When the inmates complained, he told them, "This isn't the Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back."

He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.

When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

More on the Arizona Sheriff:

With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.

On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before.

Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their pink socks.

"It feels like we are in a furnace," said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the tents for 1 year. "It's inhumane."

Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: "It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!"

Way to go, Sheriff! Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

Sheriff Joe was just reelected Sheriff in Maricopa County, Arizona.

I would have voted for him too! How 'bout you?
One step forward in my military career...Soldier of the Month for August 2005. How does this apply to anyone who is reading? Honestly, it probably doesn't. But I appreciate you reading anyway! Soldier of the Month is awarded to the soldier that represents him/herself as a soldier in the United States Army better than the other candidates. Army Regulations, the Soldier's Creed, appearance, and how you carry yourself (Discipline) are all categories that are graded. If you want to take a look at the Soldier's Creed: Soldier's Creed

Now that I have proven myself with the pressure of going before the board members, my command feels comfortable sending me to the promotion board in September to see if I am eligible for my Sergeant stripes. Also, since I won SOM for August, I will be going in October for Soldier fo the Quarter and Soldier of the Year! I will keep you all posted on how that progresses...

Before I went to Soldier of the Month board, I decided to look sharp with a fresh haircut...funny story follows. Actually, not so funny. I sit down in the well-mannered older woman's barber chair. I begin to explain how I would like my hair "styled" as she encompasses my neck with tissue paper and dons the apron over me. She nods and agrees with my explanation that I want a medium fade, nothing off the top. I sit back and await the TRIM I expected. Approximately fifteen minutes goes by...she spins me around to show me the mohawk she had given me. I was quite perturbed by this. I clearly stated what I wanted, right? YOU NODDED and told me you understood! So, I look at her and calmly say, "Shave it off. Shave it all off. You disregarded everything I asked you for. And I don't think I will be paying for this haircut either." Here is the final result...

Who has the luxury of knowing what you are born to do? It seems to be an arduous journey, searching for the path you are meant to tread. It took me 27 years to finally make my way through the labrynth, and discover what I was meant to do. Not only did I find my true calling, but I also found the answer to all my questions regarding faith, and the question that lingers on everyone's lips...

Does God exist?

Trust me, I asked more people than I would care to count about the existence of God and how did they honestly, truly believe that He/She/It existed? For a long time, I considered myself to be agnostic, because not one single person could answer my questions without sugar coating the result with "faith". It's all about faith and just believing...an answer I couldn't stomach. I needed some proof of life, so to speak. I sat down to write this blog about where life's turns have taken me, job to job, dead end to career, etc. But am driven to tell of my epiphany, if you will, as to why there is undeniably a higher being, namely God, watching over us, creating, loving, guiding...

Twenty-eight years. I had gone that long denying His existence. I had gone to church since I was 16, and thought I believed then, but was lying to myself. More importantly, lying to everyone around me and God. I joined the regular Army in November 2003 at the young age of 27, turned 28 the next month. While in school in the Army studying Nursing, one of the most intriguing subjects I have ever undertaken sparked my interest.

**The Circulation System**

This is just one of the many intricate details that make up the human body. From the small valves of the capillaries and arterioles, to the complex nerve endings inside the heart that "keep the beat". All of it adds up to a very, very, very complex individual that in no way, shape or form could have ever EVOLVED from anything. I knew when I read, studied, absorbed the information that was placed before me that something greater than I exists. Someone that created me, you, and everyone before us. Before studying the human body, I was in complete and utter denial that there was a superior being. Now I say, "God IS!"

I never expected to have a career in nursing, nor did I ever expect to have my questions anwered regarding God. I thought I was going to be a businessman that remained oblivious to any godlike worshiping, living in Nichols Hills someday with my very own idols. God had a plan for me, specifically designed for me, so I would know that He exists. He knew that was the only way to sway my stubborn mind.

If you read this and shake your head, it's your right to do so. But know this, God already knows how He will reveal Himself to you. Blessed be That Day!
